The Street Level Crimes Unit (SLCU) has responsibility for targeted enforcement in problem areas. They assist the Cecil County Drug Task Force in investigations and with search and seizure warrants. They also work with K9 deputies, Patrol deputies, the Traffic Unit, and CID with selective enforcement and surveillance details. Unit activities for 2023: 26 Traffic Stops, 14 CDS Arrests, 77 Warrant Arrests, 5 Traffic Citations, 1 Traffic Arrest, 63 Search Warrants, 12 MCIN Operations and 15 Firearms Seized.
One SLCU deputy is assigned to the Maryland State Apprehension Team, which works in conjunction with the United States Marshal Service. This unit targets violent offenders trying to evade arrest.
Pictured Above: Between February and April 2023 the Street Level Crimes Unit, investigated a CDS distribution case in Cecil County, Maryland. After a few months of surveillance, a traffic stop was conducted, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a black in color non-serialized Polymer 80 9mm handgun loaded with eight rounds, two stamped wax bags containing suspected heroin/fentanyl, a suspected Oxycodone pill and glass smoking device from a top 10 MCIN offender. Search and seizure warrants were obtained for the suspect’s residence and vehicle. The search warrant on the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 30.4 grams of cocaine and 31.9 grams of marijuana. The search warrant of the residence resulted in the seizure of digital scales and CDS residue.
