  • CCAS Awarded PAWL Project Spay & Neuter Grant

    Cecil County Animal Services is proud to announce the award of a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture Spay and Neuter Grants Program in the amount of $37,276. The PAWL Project (Prevent All Unwanted Litters) will provide free spay and neuter services and rabies vaccines for pets of qualifying individuals and families. Cecil County Animal Services is committed to ensuring that spay and neuter services are affordable and accessible to families with a limited income.

    Cecil Cares 2017 -- a Countywide Day of Service

    Elkton, MD – Cecil County Department of Community Services will sponsor Cecil Cares 2017, a countywide day of service, on Saturday, September 23. The day of service will offer Cecil County residents the opportunity to volunteer their time, energy and skills with local organizations (nonprofits, faith based/service organizations, government agencies) on a variety of hands-on service projects around the county.

  • High Potency Heroin Causes 30 Overdoses in the County

    The Labor Day Weekend proved to be lethal in Cecil County as authorities responded to over 25 overdoses and five overdose fatalities generating a concern that high potency heroin has invaded the County. All of these incidents occurred within a 72-hour period causing a strain on local responders. At least one of the incidents yielded two unconscious persons on the scene requiring the lifesaving administration of Naloxone.

  • Joint User Agreement for School-Recreation Facilities in Cecil County, Maryland

    Purpose: The Cecil County Government and Cecil County Public Schools have entered into a joint use of athletic facilities agreement that will benefit the citizens of Cecil County. With the first of five artificial turf athletic fields currently in the final stages of installation at Perryville High School, these two government agencies have agreed to procedures that will enhance the use of these upgraded school athletic facilities for both high school students and Cecil County citizens of all ages. Included in the agreement is the understanding at a certain time each day the control of the school athletic facilities shifts from the local high school administration to the Director of Parks and Recreation who will oversee the processes for extended use beyond the normal school activity day.

  • County Executive Appoints Public Information Officer

    Elkton, MD County Executive Alan McCarthy announced today that he will be appointing Jennifer R. Lyall to the position of Public Information Officer, a newly created position as a part of the FY18 Approved Budget for Cecil County. The Public Information Officer will work closely with the County Executive and the Office of Administration to organize and facilitate a communication strategy and act as a liaison between all County officials and departments and the public. Ms. Lyall has over 18 years of experience in publishing and public promotion. She will transition from her current position in the Department of Information Technology, where she most notably assisted with the development of the County’s newly designed website.
