Cecil County has numerous parks and natural areas open to the public for a variety of uses, including hiking, biking, camping horseback riding, hunting and fishing.

 Calvert Regional Park

The park consists of a synthetic turf multi purpose field, basketball courts, 11 natural grass multi purpose fields, a one mile paved trail, playgrounds, a disc golf course, paved parking, and a concession stand.  Requests for field use must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

 

Earleville Wildlife Management Area

A 190 acre home to beavers, wood ducks, deer, and a host of bird species. Unmarked trails.

Elk Neck State Forest

Park has 2,200 acres. Family oriented, wooded campground has 31 sites with electric, water and sewer, 29 sites with electric only, and 199 sites for primitive or tent camping. Campground also has 9 historical rustic cabins and 7 mini-camper cabins. Each loop has a bath house. Park has 14 miles of hiking trails including signature trail to the historic Turkey Point Lighthouse. Swimming area has playground and picnic tables. Boat launch offers four ramps, bath rooms, and store.

Elk Neck Trail

An 8 mile hiking and biking trail from the Beaver Pond in Elk Neck State Forest, just south of North East, to the Turkey Point Lighthouse at the southern tip of Elk Neck. The trail offers a magnificent panorama of the Chesapeake Bay headwaters.

Fair Hill Natural ResourcesManagement Area

5600 acres of wilderness and 80 miles of trails for biking, hiking, and horse back riding. Fresh water stream fishing. Scenic vistas of woods, rolling hills, fields and winding streams. Numerous equestrian and outdoor events are held here every year, including the Highland Gathering Scottish Games, Fair Hill Steeplechase Races, Fair Hill International and Cecil County Fair.

Fair Hill Nature Center

A nature center and outdoor school serving residents of Cecil County and the surrounding area. School and youth group programs, programs for families and the general public, and host of the annual Spring Fest and the autumn Fox Trot Ball.

Garret Island

Perryville, MD Accessible only by boat. A portion of the island is open to the public from dawn to dusk.A sandy beach that can be used for wildlife observation, wildlife photography, fishing, and other passive uses.

Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway

A certified Maryland Heritage Area encompassing a 38 mile area along the Harford and Cecil shores of the Susquehanna River at the headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay. Currently a water and land recreational trail system is partially completed and ready for outdoor enthusiasts.
