MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF LICENSE COMMISSIONERS
OF CECIL COUNTY

 

The Board of License Commissioners of Cecil County met in a regular session at the County Administrative Building, Conference Room, 200 Chesapeake Boulevard, Elk Room, Elkton, MD on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 9:15 A.M.

PRESENT:
        Tim Snelling, Chairman
                        Carrie L. Taylor, Commissioner
                        John Eller, Commissioner
                        H. Norman Wilson, Jr., Esquire
                        Earl R. Bradford, Chief Alcohol Beverage Inspector

 

LICENSE TRANSFER:Application received from Kanwal Azam, President; Tamara Burcham, Secretary; Rising DM, Inc. T/A Sunoco A Plus, 355 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911 for transfer of Class "A" Beer and Light Wine from Anne Ruohonen, President; Tamara L. Burcham, Secretary; Ruohonen, Inc., T/A Sunoco A Plus, 355 Telegraph Road, Rising Sun, MD 21911  Kanwal Azam appeared before the Board; she was duly sworn by the Clerk.  Mr. Wilson read the public notice which appeared on dates of October 16 and 23, 2013.  The fully executed application packet with proper fees included: signatures of 10 registered voters and property owners in District 6-1; Alcohol Awareness Training; Certification Form stating the nature of the business will be 'a package goods store with sales of beer, and light wine.'  Mr. Wilson asked if she is a Cecil County; she stated yes, for about six months and also a citizen.  Chairman Snelling asked if they purchased the entire business and she stated yes and they have gone to settlement.  Chief Bradford asked if there would be any changes to the business; she stated no.  She stated the employees have been TIPS trained.  With no further questions, Commissioner Taylor made a motion to approve the transfer; Commissioner Eller seconded that motion and the Board unanimously voted to approve the transfer of the license.

 UPDATE: Dilip C. Patel, President; Jyoti Praveen Patel, Secretary; Ellen Cochrane, Resident Agent; Shree Sai Shradha, Inc.; T/A Chesapeake Wine & Spirits, 2728 Augustine Herman Highway, Chesapeake City, MD 21915 – Did not appear

State Line Liquors – Chief Bradford stated he has inspected SLL and they are in compliance with the refillable containers ·                   

 Hollywood Casino – Fined $10,000 by the MD State Lottery for underage gambling ·                   

Training Class – the class went well; he's heard good feedback from several who attended and hope to be able to hold class next year ·                   

 North East Liquors – fire ·                   

 Legislative Request – meet with Delegation on Friday – Commissioner Taylor stated she agrees with the and/or portion of the request, however she does not agree with raising the fines   With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
