The Cecil County Board of Health met at the County Administrative Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton, Maryland on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. The following members of the Board were present:

  • Brian L. Lockhart, President
  • Rebecca J. Demmler, Vice President

Constituting a full Board.

Health Officer Garrity advised the Board annual wet season testing has not begun yet due to drier than normal conditions. The monitoring wells are being tested weekly and the Environmental Health Office is confident that an adequate water level will be reached very soon and the Health Department will be able to process the 37 current applications on file.

The Cecil County Community Health Survey, which is conducted every five years, will be mailed out to 11,000 random households; the Heath Department is encouraging those households selected to complete the survey and return it to the Health Department. This survey is used to plan for future funding and programs within the Health Department.

Ms. Garrity presented the annual awards for Outstanding Community Health Awards to Susan Pryor of Union Hospital of Cecil County. The second award was presented to members of the Cecil County Department of Public Works, Director Scott Flanigan, Pete Bienick and Tanya Adams, Solid Waste Division.
