The Cecil County Board of Health met in the County Administrative Building, 107 North Street, Elkton, Maryland on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.  The following members of the Board were present:

William C. Manlove, President
Mark H. Guns, Vice President
Rebecca Demmler, Commissioner
Brian Lockhart, Commissioner
Wayne Tome, Commissioner
Stephanie Garrity

Constituting a full Board.

In Dr. Bailey's absence, Stephanie Garrity, Deputy Health Officer, announced the November Flu Clinic dates at the Cecil County Health Department and encouraged all citizens to take advantage of the abundant supply of flu vaccine available this year.

Ms. Garrity provided a hand-out on MRSA Prevention as a result of recent outbreaks of the infection in a number of school districts throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania.  The hand-out explains what "MRSA" is, how it is contracted, and guidelines to help prevent and control the spread of MRSA in the community.

The Cecil County Health Departments Quarterly Report for the period of July - September, 2007 was presented and a few of the highlights were reported, including the results of the Bathing Beach Sampling Program; the Rabies Pre-Exposure Program and the Pandemic Influenza table top exercise. 

November 15, 2007 has been designated as the "Great American Smokeout" Day.  Activities on that day and throughout the month will be conducted to remind Cecil County residents of the dangers of tobacco use and assist them in their efforts to be tobacco free.
