The Cecil County Board of Health met in the County Administrative Building, 107 North Street, Elkton, Maryland on Tuesday, July 17, 2007.  The following members of the Board were present:

William C. Manlove, President
Mark H. Guns, Vice President
Rebecca Demmler, Commissioner
Brian Lockhart, Commissioner
Wayne Tome, Commissioner
Dr. Virginia Bailey

Constituting a full Board.

The Cecil County Health Department's annual report on communicable diseases was presented to the Board.

The dates and times for the "Back to School Immunization Clinics" were announced.  The fee is $14 per shot; however, no one will be refused immunizations for inability to pay.

Water quality testing at public swimming areas in the county so far this season has shown better results than last year, when heavy rainfall and flooding in late June and early July had contributed to high bacteria levels at many beaches.

Since the beginning of June samples have been collected at 18 designated beaches.  The first week of June found 6 out of 9 beaches tested showing bacterial levels exceeding standards, however, since that time only on beach has exceeded the single day standard.

The Health Department will continue regular weekly sampling through the end of August and results are posted on their website at www.cecilcountyhealth.org as they become available.
