Cecil County Department of Community Services Seeks Volunteers for Cecil Cares 2024
The Cecil County Department of Community Services (DCS) is seeking volunteers for Cecil Cares 2024, the 9th annual countywide day of service, on Saturday, October 5th. Cecil Cares offers citizens the opportunity to connect and volunteer with local organizations (nonprofits, government agencies, and faith and service-based organizations) on a variety of hands-on service projects or donation drives throughout the County. Interested citizens may locate and register for a Cecil Cares project of their choice by visiting www.volunteercecil.org – just click on the Cecil Cares banner. Please note that several organizations will host their projects on Friday, October 11th. Details for each project are posted the Volunteer Cecil website.
Last year, over 200 volunteers were engaged in 11 projects. Service activities included collecting approximately 3,350 pounds of food, clothing, and hygiene items for a local pantry; removing over 2,300 pounds of trash and debris from roadsides, parks, and neighborhoods; and helping five local organizations with landscaping and cleanup projects. Cecil Cares 2024 will offer citizens a wide variety of opportunities to serve, from painting and landscaping to community cleanup projects and donation drives.
Cecil Cares 2024 is coordinated by the Cecil County Department of Community Services and the Cecil Cares Planning Team with support from Upper Shore Regional Council.
