Bring your main character to life with believable emotions and actions, while inserting him/her into historic moments, but there is a trap there. The very reader you want to reach, not only wants your character to be alive, but holds you responsible for telling the history correctly. Your reader may be a history buff or descendant of historical figures in your story. You must tread lightly on their history without turning your character into cardboard!
