Cecil County Closures and Updates Due to Novel Coronavirus - Updated for December 30, 2020 - *New COVID-19 Testing Information*

December 30, 2020 

ELKTON, MD. – To date, as reported by the Cecil County Health Departmentthere have been 3,579 (+207 from 12/23/20) confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County, and 3,035 (+222 from 12/23/20) of those confirmed cases have been released from isolation. There are 91 (+4 from 12/23/20) COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County.

COVID-19 continues to be a community-spread pandemic. There has been a substantial uptick in COVID-Positive cases in Cecil County over the last few weeks. Please remain vigilant and safe in your day-to-day activities, refrain from gathering in large groups, wear a mask in public places, practice social distancing, wash your hands often, and sanitize frequently touched surfaces.

Cecil County Health Department

The Cecil County Health Department will hold free COVID-19 testing events for the public on the following dates:

  • Monday, January 4th,11th, and 25th, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.
  • Wednesday, January 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.
  • Friday, January 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.

Appointments are required. Please Call 410-996-1005 or go to the online scheduler to make an appointment: https://covidtesting.pattrac.app/cecil.

Please bring ID. You do not need a doctor’s note or symptoms to get tested.

Vaccine Update

In accordance with the Maryland Department of Health, Cecil County is currently in phase 1A of COVID-19 vaccination. Phase 1A includes the vaccination of healthcare personnel, long-term care facilities, and first responders.   • For Food Referrals: Due to the coronavirus, we have restricted the public’s access to our building; however, you may still call for food referrals to the Help Center. Please Call: Nicole at 443-986-3548; Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Emergency Food Referrals will be available for pick up at the Help Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Referrals for those households seeking their monthly Federal Food allotment will be only on Thursday between the hours of 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • To Report Abuse or Neglect: 410-996-0100 option 1 during normal business hours M-F 8AM to 5PM.  After hours, please call 410-996-5350. – In the event of a true emergency, please dial 911.
  • FIA Services: Emergency food stamps, cash assistance, SNAP food benefits, or home energy assistance 1-800-332-6347 or apply online at https://dhs.maryland.gov/category/fia/
  • For child support services please call 1-800-332-6347 or apply online at https://dhs.maryland.gov/child-support-services/
  • To make an appointment with Social Services, call 443-945-8613.  Customers can call this number and a message will be given to the worker or Department they are calling for. The worker will then call the customer back.

Cecil County Government
Cecil County Government (CCG) remains committed to protecting the health and welfare of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining essential, core services to the constituents of Cecil County. To safely and incrementally move County operations forward, CCG will reopen County work sites to the public, by appointment only, for essential County business. Therefore, the following protocol is effective beginning June 8, 2020, until further notice:

  • Public access to County work sites is limited to appointment only, with as much business as possible being conducted electronically or by telephone.

To maximize social distancing, employees in telework-eligible positions are to continue to work remotely as much as possible. Employees in non-telework eligible positions will report to the work site. All employees at work sites are to follow health and safety protocols for COVID-19.

The vestibule at the Administration Building remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to allow for drop-off and pick-ups for Permits, Finance, Housing, Purchasing, Land Use, and Public Works. Please make sure your documents are clearly marked with name/organization and contact information.

  • All Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division facilities are open for normal operations. This includes the Central Landfill, Woodlawn, and Stemmers Run Transfer Stations.

In early March 2020, the Cecil County COVID-19 Joint Information Center (JIC) was formed as a means to provide consolidated and thorough information to the citizens of Cecil County. The JIC is comprised of more than 30 public information officials and communication leads for agencies throughout the county.
