Please be advised that Cecil County is implementing a new system of automated application, processing and tracking of building and grading permits to improve the overall permit process. Some of the new permitting procedures will go into effect April 1, 2009. There will be many changes in the way permits are applied for and processed. Some of the changes include:
1. To apply for a building permit, a pre-approval worksheet must be filled out by the customer. The worksheets are available to download from the county website (www.ccgov.org) and available in the Permits and Inspections Office. A $30.00 application fee is due upon application of the building permit.
2. In some instances a separate Grading and Driveway Entrance Permit may need to be completed by the customer. These forms are also available on the county website and available in the Department of Permits and Inspections and in the Department of Public Works. All grading and/ or driveway entrance permits will be applied for directly through the Department of Public Works. All applicable DPW permit fees will be due upon application, NOT issuance, of the grading permit.
All permit fees will be paid in the Treasurer's Office.
There will be other procedure changes that may not be listed on this memorandum. As with any procedure changes, there will be an adjustment period, however it is the view of Cecil County Government that the new procedures will greatly improve the permit approval and tracking processes. If you have any questions about the new procedures, please do not hesitate to ask a Department of Permits and Inspections or Department of Public Works staff member.
