CECIL COUNTY GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

             Elkton, MD - The Board of Cecil County Commissioners is pleased to announce that the new Cecil County Administration building located at 200 Upper Chesapeake Corporate Center off Route 40 is finished on schedule.  A special thank you goes out to Nowland Associates, Inc., who made a generous contribution to our new building by adding a beautiful 25-foot lighted tree in the foyer!  The consolidation and relocation of county departments to a centralized location will begin a new era of improved government services and convenience for our residents.

            The relocation of County administrative offices to a centralized location will provide relief to the expanding Circuit Court system and allow for growth as the County experiences a demand in additional government services.  The County issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) June 19, 2005 and received seven responsive proposals.  Subsequent evaluation resulted in award to Nowland Development, LLC (Newark, Delaware) on April 18, 2006.  The 83,103 square foot, two-story building, is located in the incorporated town limits of Elkton at the Upper Chesapeake Corporate Center on an approximate 11.3 acre parcel.  The total cost of the building is $20,141,589 (including land, design, construction, permitting, fees, site amenities, and furnishings). The following county offices have moved to the new location:

             Department of Economic Development

            Department of Parks and Recreation

            Department of Information Technology

            Department of Facility Management

            Cecil County Liquor Board  

The complete relocation schedule for departments is available on the home page of our website, www.ccgov.org      All county departments are scheduled to be in the new building by March 2008.  The following offices will remain in their current location in the Circuit Court Building, 129 E. Main Street, Elkton: State's Attorney's Office, Circuit Court, Register of Wills, Orphan's Court, and the Office of the Clerk of the Court.

            County departments were involved in the layout and design of the building to ensure the end result will ultimately benefit the public and employees alike.  Some highlights of the anticipated building design can be found on our website, but one of the more exciting will be a large (200 person) multipurpose room with state of the art sound/recording equipment and multimedia presentation equipment, with an emphasis on the audience's ability to see and hear proceedings and participate effectively.  The site will have ample parking for the staff and visitors.  Visit our website for more information at www.ccgov.org.
