Cecil County Budget Fiscal Year 2010
Current Fiscal Year 2009 Budget - The current Board of Cecil County Commissioners has managed county finances very conservatively. County officials are keeping a close eye on all economic and financial indicators available during this economic setback. The State of Maryland and counties are being forced to cut back immediately based on revenue projections. The Commissioners have requested that all county departments submit recommendations for a 5% budgetary expense reduction for the current 2009 budget. Other measures enacted are as follows:
- a hiring review process requiring County Administrator approval before recruiting for any vacant positions except deputies, correctional officers and emergency service personnel;
- a conference and training review process requiring County Administrator approval to eliminate spending on non-essential travel;
- elimination of the County's take home vehicle policy for non-public safety departments;
- initiation of energy conservation practices throughout the building, i.e. make documents two-sided, turn off lights, computers, etc., when not in use.
A Look to the Future: Fiscal Year 2010 Budget - The forecast from the Federal and State government is to expect severe budget cuts that will impact local government services and programs. Cecil County's focus during the FY 2010 budget process will be on maintaining essential services for our residents and keeping strong reserves for our long term fiscal health.

Worksession meetings for the CIP will be held in the Perryville Room of the County Administrative Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton. Meetings held in open session (may be observed by the public) unless otherwise indicated. All or part of County Commissioner meetings can be held in closed session under the authority of the state open meetings law by vote of the Commissioners. Cancelled, rescheduled, and emergency meeting notices will be posted at the entrance to the County Administration Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton as soon as information is available.
