Surface Water Feasibility Studies for Cecil County

Eastern Cecil Groundwater Study - This study was completed by Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA, Abingdon, Maryland). Their work examined the likelihood that substantial groundwater resources could be developed in or immediately adjacent to the existing Meadowview Utilities service district (to reduce reliance on United Water Delaware) and/or in the upper eastern Elk Neck Peninsula area (to serve the Route 40 water line). The findings in both areas were encouraging and GTA provided detailed recommendations for pursuing those resources.

Surface Water and Reservoir Study - This study was completed by Arro Consulting, Inc. (Arro, Lancaster, Pennsylvania). Their work examined the viability of several surface waters to serve the Route 40 water line. These included Mill Creek (aka Mill Creek West, near Perryville), Principio Creek, Stony Run, and Mill Creek East (between Marley Road and Nottingham Road). The study examined associated reservoir issues with the surface water bodies and also evaluated the water resources use of the Elk Mills Quarry upon completion of mineral extraction there in the future. The viability of these various resources was mixed, and Arro provided detailed analysis of each of these initiatives.
