The Warrants Unit is responsible for entering and maintaining records of warrants received and keep open lines of communication with allied agencies.
All patrol deputies are responsible for serving warrants. The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office receives and process approximately 70 new warrants each month and maintains approximately 3,900 Active Wanted Persons files. These files are updated and maintained in accordance with FBI guidelines.
The Warrant Unit is also responsible for maintaining the National Crime Information Center Database (NCIC) for the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office. NCIC is a computerized index of criminal justice information (i.e.- criminal record history
information, fugitives, stolen properties, missing persons). It is available to federal, state, and local law enforcement and other criminal justice agencies and is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
