Roads Division The Cecil County Roads Maintenance Division is the largest operational division within the Department of Public Works. At full operational employment, the division contains some 49 positions, four of which are temporary seasonal workers. The remaining 45 positions cover Laborers for one of the three roads crews, bridge crew, or sign crew, Equipment Operators, Crew Leaders, and administrative staff, such as the Superintendent and Office Services Specialist (who receives most of the phone calls).
The primary services provided by the Roads Maintenance Division are daily maintenance of and upgrades to county streets and drainage structures, all necessary emergency response actions from situations that include storm event flooding and downed trees to snow and ice removal. This division is public service in its most direct approach.

The Cecil County Weed Control Branch is the smallest operational division, having one (1) staff position only. The Weed Control Coordinator for Cecil County provides inspection and noxious weed control services throughout Cecil County from April through November.
