ATTENTION

Please be advised that Cecil County is implementing a new system of automated application, processing and tracking of building and grading permits to improve the overall permit process. The new permitting procedures will go into effect August 1, 2007. There will be many changes in the way permits are applied for, paid for and processed. Some of the changes include:

1.  To apply for a building permit, a pre-approval worksheet must be filled out by the customer. The worksheets are available to download below and available in the Permits and Inspections Office.

2.  All grading permits will be a separate approval process from the building permit.  The grading permit will be applied for directly with the Department of Public Works.  A Grading and Driveway Entrance Permit Application will need to be completed by the customer. These forms are also available on the county website and available in the Department of Public Works.

3. All payments will be made in the Treasurer's Office instead of in the Department of Permits and Inspections or the Department of Public Works.

There will be other procedure changes that may not be listed on this memorandum. As with any procedure changes, there will be an adjustment period, however it is the view of Cecil County Government that the new procedures will greatly improve the permit approval and tracking processes. If you have any questions about the new procedures, please do not hesitate to ask a Department of Permits and Inspections or Department of Public Works staff member.
