                                       DISPATCHER I - CALL TAKER

Cecil County Department of Emergency Services is seeking a Dispatcher I - Call Taker for the Department of Emergency Services with an hourly rate of $14.07/hr. (Grade 1P).  Work requires 12 hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Position requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Good knowledge of the geography of Cecil County subdivisions and roadway systems. Strong communication skills; computer skills, ability to multi-task, read and interpret maps, and to remain calm in emergency situations. Must pass a thorough background investigation; a valid Driver's License is required.

Duties: Taking incoming calls, both emergency and non-emergency, from citizens and notifying appropriate agencies including law enforcement, medical, and fire rescue personnel for response using voice and computer based systems. Prioritize calls made to the call center efficiently transferring feedback using a variety of telecommunications equipment while maintaining confidentiality; perform all duties assigned by supervisor.
