Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. I'd like to work for Cecil County Government. How do I go about applying for a job with you?
We advertise our position vacancies in the local newspapers, radio station Job Hotlines, and with organizations such as the Maryland Employment Service, the NAACP, and local community colleges. We also post these positions on the bulletin board right outside the Human Resources Office, and you will find them online on this website!

2. What happens when I see a job I'm interested in?
You may come in to the Human Resources Department, Room 122, County Courthouse, 129 E. Main Street, Elkton and fill out an application for the specific job opening. Our office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. If it is more convenient for you, you may FAX a resume clearly indicating the position of interest to the attention of Human Resources Dept. at (410) 996-5327. We would also be happy to mail an application to your home address.  You may call us at (410) 996-5250 to make that request, or to obtain more information about a vacancy. (Please note: most positions have a deadline date which must be met in order to be considered.)  You may also download a Cecil County Government application from this website.

3. I don't see a position I'm interested in or qualified for right now. Can't I just send a resume for anything that might become available in the future?
Our policy is to only accept applications for current advertised vacancies. However, once you have an application on file with our office, we will retain it for one year. Should you see another position which is of interest, you can call us at (410) 996-5250 and we will reactivate your application for that new position vacancy.
