The Cecil County Board of Health met in the County Administrative Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton, Maryland on Tuesday, June 3, 2008. The following members of the Board were present:
William C. Manlove, President Mark H. Guns, Vice President Rebecca Demmler, Commissioner Brian Lockhart Wayne Tome, Commissioner Stephanie Garrity, Health Officer
Constituting a full Board.
Stephanie Garrity presented the Communicable Disease reported cases for 2000-2007; the only notable increases were that of reported cases of Chlamydia and Lyme disease. John Leferlic, M.D., advisor for the Cecil County Health Department stated that this could be attributed to increased awareness and reporting efforts.
The Cecil County Health Department's 2008 Bathing Beach Sampling program was presented to the Board. Beach sampling of 19 beaches in the county will continue throughout the summer season and sampling results will be posted weekly on the Cecil County Health Department's website.
