March 4, 2008 The Cecil County Board of Health met in the County Administrative Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton, Maryland on Tuesday, March 4, 2008. The following members of the Board were present:
William C. Manlove, President Mark H. Guns, Vice President Rebecca Demmler, Commissioner Brian Lockhart Wayne Tome, Commissioner Stephanie Garrity, Acting Health Officer
Constituting a full Board.
The Cecil County Health Department has vaccinated approximately 4300 citizens with flu vaccine. Ms. Garrity advised the Board, that there has been reported flu activity in Cecil County, and that vaccine is still available. Wet season soil testing began last week and the Health Department is experiencing an approximate 2-week turnaround for soil testing applicants. The month of March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. The Health Department is promoting screening and offers screenings for eligible citizens through the Cigarette Restitution Fund's Cancer Prevention, Education, Screening & Treatment Program.
