Her husband's construction career required frequent travel, leaving her the responsibility of managing the home and raising the children. So she left the classroom (except for several years of substituting) for her role as homemaker. She embraced this with gratitude. She and her husband Ronald have two children.
Commissioner Demmler will represent the Board of Commissioners as a member of the following organizations:
Planning Commission
Commission on Aging
Cecil Partnerships for Children, Youth, and Families
Mental Health Core Service Agency Advisory Board
Upper Shore Regional Council
Over the years, Rebecca has had an ongoing involvement in the community. She served as past treasurer of the Cecil County Unit of the Salvation Army. She was secretary of the Partnership for Cecil County. She served as newsletter editor, treasurer, secretary, and president of the Maryland Chapter of the Flying Farmers. She served on the Board for the Cecil County Pregnancy Center.
Since 1996, Rebecca has been a very active participant in county issues with an ongoing presence at many meetings. This interest evolved into writing an email newsletter which included county-issues information and personal opinion. This involvement culminated in her decision to run for County Commissioner.
Commissioner Demmler supports the concept of controlled growth, public notification, and responsible spending. She pledges her time to serving the citizens, keeping always in mind that this is her ultimate responsibility.
